If the report is true, the redi-GO will be the least expensive petrol hatchback after the Tata Nano.

The Datsun redi-GO is banking on the Renault Kwid's aggressive pricing strategy for its success, and will target first time car buyers. The Renault Kwid was launched from INR 2.56 Lakh, which took the market by storm, considering what it offered on the table.

The redi-GO is based on the same platform as the Renault Kwid, and follows the Kwid's strategy of frugal engineering. The former is lighter but has a longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance (185 mm) than the Kwid. Inside, however, it doesn't get the option of an AVN system or a digital instrument cluster.
