Skoda Rapid facelift spotted testing for the first time - Spied

The 2016 Skoda Rapid (facelift) has been spotted testing, for the first time, courtesy of Motorbeam. It is expected to be launched sometime this year, reportedly during the Diwali festive season.

The New Rapid would feature a sharper design, by way of redesigned exterior elements such as headlamps, grille, bumpers and hood.

The publication reports that the 2016 Rapid will feature a new bonnet, reshaped front bumper, redesigned headlamps, revised front fenders and a fresh grille. The body panels are said to be sharper on the upcoming version, and the entire car is reported to look similar to the international version, more or less like a smaller Skoda Octavia. The interior of the Rapid facelift is also reported to get some embellishments and new features.

The 2016 Rapid is not expected to receive significant mechanical upgrades, aside from the updated diesel engine.

The new Rapid would be offered with the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines which are currently provided. The diesel engine is expected to deliver a higher output courtesy of a larger turbocharger in place of the existing one.

Expected Price: INR 8 lakhs to INR 13 lakhs (ex-showroom)
Expected Release Date: Q4, 2016.
