The 2016 Skoda Rapid (facelift) has been spotted testing, for the first time, courtesy of Motorbeam. It is expected to be launched sometime this year, reportedly during the Diwali festive season.
The publication reports that the 2016 Rapid will feature a new bonnet, reshaped front bumper, redesigned headlamps, revised front fenders and a fresh grille. The body panels are said to be sharper on the upcoming version, and the entire car is reported to look similar to the international version, more or less like a smaller Skoda Octavia. The interior of the Rapid facelift is also reported to get some embellishments and new features.
The new Rapid would be offered with the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines which are currently provided. The diesel engine is expected to deliver a higher output courtesy of a larger turbocharger in place of the existing one.
Rivals: Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Ciaz
