The Mercedes GLC Coupe is the production version of the Mercedes Concept GLC Coupe.

The Mercedes GLC Coupe, although being a coupe-styled derivative of the Mercedes GLC, was rather the original product of the two. Months before the Mercedes GLC was unveiled as the successor to the Mercedes GLK, a concept named Mercedes Concept GLC Coupe was introduced at Auto Shanghai 2015. The new crossover unveiled in New York is actually a production version of the that near-production concept.

Longer, Lower and Sportier, but no change in aerodynamics

The Mercedes GLC Coupe measures 4.73 metres in length, 1.60 metres in height and has a wheelbase of 2.87 metres. In contrast, the Mercedes GLC measures 4.66 metres in length and 1.64 metres in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.87 metres.

The coupe version is relatively longer and sits lower, but has the same wheelbase. The width, revealed in the North American release, is same as that of the regular version - 74.4 inches (1.89 metres). The coupe version is indeed sportier than the regular version, however the coefficient of drag remains unchanged at 0.31 Cd.

Three models will be available initially in Europe.

The Mercedes GLC Coupe is offered with the same engines as the Mercedes GLC. The GLC 250 d 4MATIC Coupe is powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine good for 150 kW (204 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. The only petrol model in the Euro-spec version, the GLC 250 4MATIC Coupe, is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that develops 155 kW (211 hp) and 350 Nm of torque.

Coming to the U.S.-spec version, unlike the Mercedes GLC, the Mercedes GLC Coupe is available only in all-wheel drive drivetrain configuration. The GLC300 4MATIC Coupe is the only available model and it sports a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 241 hp and 273 lb.-ft. (370 Nm) of torque.

Like the engines, the 9G-TRONIC being standard across the range is also a mechanical aspect same as the Mercedes GLC/Mercedes-AMG GLC.
