Engine upgraded with more power and torque.

Following its domestic market unveiling and concurrent launch in June and European debut at 2015 IAA in September, the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe (facelift) is being showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The facelifted model gets minor styling updates and adds several new features, and receives minimal mechanical upgrades. This model is not yet available in India.

On the outside, changes include restyled bumpers and fog lamps, integration of LED daytime running lights in the bumper, revised radiator and air dam grilles, new skid plates, application of xenon projector headlamps and new LED tail lamp graphics. Three new colours - Tan Brown, Beige Chalk and Mineral Blue, have been added to the paint choices.

The interior has received a new center console and the Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system. In a bid to get the interior looking more contemporary, Hyundai has updated the cockpit with new materials and colours. The AVN system now combines DAB digital radio and Infinity Premium Surround Audio system with 12 speakers having an output of 630 watts.

Engines powering the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe are two diesel and a gasoline unit conforming to Euro 6 emission standards. The diesel engines are the 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter CRDi units - the former produces 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque and has a claimed combined fuel efficiency of 48 mpg (16.99 km/l) with carbon emission of 154 g/km.

The 2.2-liter diesel unit churns out 200 PS and 440 Nm of peak torque output. It is claimed to deliver a combined fuel average of 46.3 mpg (16.39 km/l) with a carbon output of 161 g/km. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline motor has output figures of 188 PS and 241 Nm with a combined fuel consumption of 30 mpg (10.62 km/l). It produces 218 g/km of CO2.

Only the 2.0-liter diesel does not have the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission and other engines can be spec’d with either the 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. All engines have the choice of front- or four-wheel drivetrain.
