VW Ameo could get styling updates prior to launch - Report

Launch confirmed for early-H2 2016.

According to Overdrive, the VW Ameo could receive minor styling updates to its front end, when it goes on sale from early H2 2016. The model showcased looks virtually identical to its hatchback brother - the VW Polo, from the front.

The VW Ameo is reported to get new headlamps with LED DRLs and more chrome on its grille.

Sources divulge to the publication that the top-end grades of the VW Ameo will have the option of LED DRLs which are similar to the ones in the 2016 VW Vento. The grille will also receive more chrome treatment, much like the larger Vento.

The VW Ameo will be available in petrol and diesel variants. Diesel power is sourced from a 1.5-liter TDI engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. As for the petrol variant, it packs a 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPI petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

No changes have been reported at the rear-end of the Ameo.

The VW Ameo will come generously equipped, with features such as a rear view camera, a MirrorLink entertainment system, auto dimming internal mirror, ABS and dual front airbags as standard in all variants, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic AC, cornering lights, and front center armrest with rear AC.
