As of now, neither Jeep nor FCA has confirmed the launch of the Renegade in India.

In fact, FCA had initially cancelled the launch of the Jeep Renegade in India, despite the growing demand for compact SUVs. The Jeep vehicles confirmed to go on sale are the WranglerGrand Cherokee and SRT Cherokee.

However, FCA may have had a change of heart, and could change its strategy to better establish themselves in the Indian market. The Renegade could serve as Jeep’s entry level premium SUV and rival top-end grades of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

Jeep India imported two models for testing, both of which are powered by the 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel engine. The only difference is the transmission option: 6-speed manual (featured) and 9-speed automatic. A 1.6-liter E-Torq petrol engine could also be offered, should there be demand for petrol-powered SUVs.

Inside, the Renegade is upholstered in black leather with silver accents, and comes with a leather steering wheel, climate control system, UConnect with 5-inch screen, 3.5-inch TFT instrument panel, rear parking sensors and cruise control.
