The all-new Honda Civic Hatchback will be previewed by a near-production concept named 2016 Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. In the latest, just days ahead of the concept's official unveiling, its images have surfaced on the web revealing its exterior from all the sides, courtesy Carscoops.

The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will debut a new 1.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine.

The Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype has been given a very sporty appeal with what seems to look like full LED headlights, large air inlets, mesh grille inserts, large air outlets, rear bumper with integrated diffuser, C-shaped LED taillights and two rear spoilers – one roof mounted and one bootlid-mounted. Greenish-yellow accents on various elements on all sides add a little bit of funkiness to the car.

When launched, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will be the third addition to the tenth generation Honda Civic range after the original sedan version and the coupe version which followed soon after. The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will also debut the company's new 1.0-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and be available with a 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as well.

The current 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine will likely continue being offered in the European market.

A recent report said that the 1.0-litre unit will develop 127 bhp and 148 lb.-ft. (201 Nm) of torque and that the Civic powered by this engine will have CO2 emissions rating of 99 g/km. It would replace the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine, while the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine will likely continue.
