Royal Enfield Himalayan unveiled, gets 25 bhp engine - IAB Report

The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been unveiled online ahead of its launch on February 2. The company has launched the product webpage of the Himalayan which contains photos and videos of the bike.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to have a starting price of around INR 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Himalayan is powered by what's referred to as the LS400 engine which a a 410 cc single-cylinder OHC unit that produces around 25 bhp of peak power. It is cooled by the standard air-cooling system with assistance from an oil-cooler.

It is said that the engine maintains its output despite any change in temperature. The adventure tourer will have a long service interval of around 10,000 km, and a long service life of parts that are to be periodically replaced, such as the spark plug which is said to last up to 25,000 km.

The suspension system of the Himalayan was tuned by Harris Performance UK which was acquired by Royal Enfield around May last year. The motorcycle uses a 21-inch rim upfront and likely an 18-inch wheel at the rear, both of which are spoked. The tyres are dual purpose models that can be used both on- and off-road.
