Will be based on the C/d version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’ CMF platform.
After being spotted in South America last month, the Renault Scenic 2016 has now been spied testing in Europe. The engineering mule in the spy shots courtesy of Auto Express, understandably features the final design. The fourth generation model will be based on the the C/d version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’ CMF platform. This is the same version of the French-Japanese JV’s new modular platform which underpins the Renault Kadjar and the fourth generation Renault Megane.
The all-new model features the brand’s latest design language seen on the fifth-gen Renault Espace, Renault Kadjar, Renault Talisman, and fourth-gen Renault Megane. The interior too, would be similar to that of these models, featuring the new 3-spoke steering wheel, colour head-up display, R-Link 2 infotainment system with an 8.7-inch vertical touchscreen display flanked by vertical HVAC vents. The wider body is expected to significantly improve boot space and shoulder room. The Scenic could also get new storage solutions and improved fit and finish.
The 2016 Renault Scenic will be available with a variety of TCe petrol and dCi diesel engine choices, with displacements ranging from 1.2- to 1.6-litre. Transmission choices should include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. The next-gen model is said to be premiering at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March and will be followed by a fully redesigned three-row 2016 Renault Grand Scenic.
