To launch in the second half of 2016.
WorldCarFans reader Darren, has snapped the 2016 Porsche Panamera undergoing testing in Ireland. It will make its world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and is expected to launch in the second half of 2016, as told by the ex-Porsche President & CEO Matthias Müller to IAB.
It’s apparent that Porsche will overhaul the design for a sleeker, contemporary look that shaves some of bulk in the current model. It will get a new LED taillight cluster design similar to the Porsche Macan, large active rear spoiler, quad exhaust tips, and a sportier bumper.
The new Panamera will ride on an all-new MSB platform, and is reported to make the car 90 kg lighter than the current model, thanks to the extensive use of aluminum and high-strength steels. The engine lineup could include a new range of turbocharged V6 and V8 engines paired to Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK transmission as standard. It will be available in RWD and AWD guises.
Reports speculate that the next generation Panamera will spawn two bodystyles – a long wheelbase version and a sporty five-door Sport Turismo version. Another 5-door sedan in the making is the production-spec Porsche Mission E, which will slot under the Panamera and feature a fully electric powertrain.
