To be debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.
The next generation Mercedes E-Class which is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (2016 NAIAS) is reported by Car & Driver to feature an all-new family of engines.
The first engine from the new family is expected to be a four-cylinder diesel unit that could produce around 180 bhp (134 kW). The engine series is believed to expand with a variety of four-cylinder petrol units and variants of inline-six cylinder petrol and diesel motors.
The 2016 E-Class is also said to get a new 48-volt mild-hybrid variant which could be equipped with a starter-generator that is integrated into the transmission system.

From the spyshots, it is revealed that the next generation E-Class adopts a new but familiar styling that is a blend of the current C- and S-Class. The interior is reported to be enriched significantly with more premium materials, a larger infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and more functional equipment.
