Expected to start at INR 4 lakhs, ex-Showroom.
A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Mahindra S101 (XUV100) has been caught on video in Panjim, Goa by IAB Reader Amey Desai. The Mahindra S101, which is expected to be badged the Mahindra XUV100, is expected to launch this FY at around INR 4 lakhs as the starting price.
It was recently reported that the S101 is being developed with the Maruti Wagon R as the chief rival, according to senior executives of two Tier I component suppliers. However, the S101 is likely to sport a bench type seat up front.
The S101 is reported to be powered by three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It is confirmed that an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine will debut on the S101, which is believed to be co-developed by Mahindra with its subsidiary, SsangYong.

The diesel version would most likely be driven by the TUV300's new mHawk 80 motor with a two-stage turbocharger, that is capable of producing 84 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 230 Nm between 1,500-2,250 rpm. The transmission choices on the S101 would include a 5-speed manual and possibly a 5-speed AMT system, which will send power to the front wheels.
