Launch in two weeks.

IAB reader Abhishek Joshi has shared a few up-close snaps of the Mahindra Mojo. The new flagship motorcycle of Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited is due for launch in mid-October.

Capitalising on the absence of a quarter-litre sports tourer in the sub-2 lakh motorcycle segment, the Mahindra Mojo will go up against well established brands like the KTM Duke 390, Honda CBR250R, Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 and the like. Later this year, it will face tougher competition with the launch of the DSK Benelli TNT 25 street fighter and the Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure tourer.

What would differentiate the Mojo from its competition is its hardware. Suspended by 37 mm (inner dia) inverted telescopic fork and a stubby monoshock unit, the 167 kg (estimated) motorcycle runs on 110/70/ZR17 and 150/60/ZR17 Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres that are retarded by largest-in-segment 320 mm front, and 240 mm rear disc brakes without ABS.

Its 21-litre fuel tank is also the largest among its rivals. Features-wise, the Mojo is installed with a pair of eyebrow-like LED pilot lamps, and a semi-digital instrument cluster with a unique LED rev-follower around the tachometer dial.

Powering the Mahindra Mojo is a 295 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine with competitive performance figures of 27 PS at 8,000 rpm and 30 Nm at 6,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
