Debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The India-bound Nissan X-Trail is being showcased at the ongoing 18th edition of Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS 2015). The all-new model was launched in China by Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV) in February 2014.
Just yesterday, Christian Mardrus, Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Management Committee for Africa, Middle East, and India, at Nissan, confirmed to IndianAutosBlog.com that the company has plans to launch a new crossover in India, soon. It is inferred that the X-Trail nameplate will be reintroduced after it was discontinued in February 2014.
The new X-Trail sports the company’s new design language with a more flowing look. The crossover is based on the new modular CMF platform developed by Renault-Nissan aimed at achieving lower production cost. The model is internationally available in 5- and 7-seat configurations.
The variant in China benefits from a long list of features, including the world’s first Active Ride Control, Active Engine Brake, 4x4i drive system, Active Trace Control, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Around View Monitor with Parking Assist, etc.
The Nissan X-Trail is offered in 9 variants in China, and only in the 5-seat configuration. The MR20 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 149.5 PS at 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm at 4,400 rpm, is available on the X-Trail with 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed Xtronic CVT, and the larger QR25 2.5-litre petrol motor churning out 186.2 PS at 6,000 rpm and 234 Nm at 4,000 rpm, is offered only with the 7-speed Xtronic CVT.
