The upcoming Ka will be more family-oriented and focus on packaging efficiency.

The new Ford Figo that has just launched in India, will be introduced in Europe next year. A new report on Auto Express claims that it will get a new name. This information was gained by the website after an interaction with Roelant de Waard, vice-president of sales, marketing and service for Ford Europe.

The third gen Ford Ka is very likely to be exported from the Sanand plant, where it is made as the Ford Figo. Ford India already exports the EcoSport to Europe.

It is reported that the Plus suffix is already being used by the manufacturer internally and has a good chance of making its way into the production variant as well. The next-gen Ka (third generation) will be quite different from the previous generations, and this is due to the evolution in the segment, says Waard.

The 2016 Ka will be more sedate and family-oriented, losing the quirky styling that was present in the original meant to appeal to a younger audience. The new car will cater to a mature audience who are looking for packaging efficiency and space rather than unconventional styling. Waard says that the upcoming Ka will have “incredible roominess in a very short vehicle.”

2015 Ford Figo side launched
The Figo measures 3,886 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,525 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,491 mm with a ground clearance of 174 mm and a boot capacity of 257 liters.

The engines are likely to be a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel unit and a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine (Ecoboost). The power figures and features are not yet known. The Euro-spec Ford Ka (known as the Figo in India) is very likely to be manufactured and exported from the Sanand plant in Gujarat. In an earlier interaction with IAB, president and MD of Ford India, Nigel Harris, said that the Gujarat plant will be exporting to 50 countries out of which European markets are also a possibility.
