Kia Optima GT – 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live
Riza Rizvi, Hopelessly in love with everything on four wheels. Interested in cars since my formative years, with an unhealthy affinity for exotics and tuners. Fondness for the open road with high-octane machinery for company!
Will go on sale in Europe next year.
Kia has showcased the Optima GT at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The GT is the high performance version of the new Optima. It is expected to go on sale exclusively in the European markets in 2016.
The Optima GT is Kia’s third GT model after the cee’d GT and pro_cee’d GT. The Optima GT has a more athletic design compared to the standard model. It has a redesigned “tiger-nose” grille, and a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels that are shod with 235/45 R18 tyres. The sporty sedan has dimensions of 4,855 mm, 1,860 mm and 1,465 mm in length, width and height respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,805 mm.
Beneath the sporty body kit, the GT gets its own unique suspension settings compared to the standard models. It is fitted with a new electronically-controlled suspension system. Further changes are larger disc brakes and Kia’s new rack-mounted motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS) that is touted to enhance the dynamism of the sedan.
The Power for the Optima GT comes from a 2.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine. This unit produces 245 PS and 353 Nm of torque. These figures enable the GT to cover the 0-100 km/h dash in 7.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 240 km/h. The combined fuel efficiency is 12.19 km/l and CO2 emission is 191 g/km.
