2016 Subaru XV (facelift) unveiled, Japanese brochure leaked - Report

Sold in the U.S as the Subaru Crosstrek.

The brochure of the 2016 Subaru XV (facelift) for Japan has leaked online, revealing the final specification and pricing. The same model is sold in the U.S as the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, where the facelifted version starts from USD 21,595, and will go on sale this fall.

The facelifted model gets new headlights with LED positioning lamps, updated single-slat grille, and a redesigned front bumper with L-shaped chrome accents beside the foglamps, and new 17-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels.

Changes to the interior are minimal, featuring a revised three-spoke steering wheel, orange contrast stitching, LED interior lighting, and new piano black/silver dashboard trim inserts on higher variants. As for equipment, it comes with a 6.2 inch STARLINK multimedia system with touchscreen, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

In Japan, all petrol models will receive a 32,400 yen price hike, while the hybrid variant's price remains unchanged.

No mechanical changes are reported. The 2016 Subaru XV (2016 Subaru Crosstrek) is available with a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine delivering 148 hp at 6,200 rpm and 197 Nm at 4,200 rpm to all four wheels via the standard five-speed manual or a Lineartronic CVT.

Also available is a hybrid variant that pairs a 13 hp electric motor and a 0.55 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery to the same engine, bumping the output to 160 hp at 6,000 rpm and 221 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

In Japan, all petrol models will receive a 32,400 yen price hike, according to the leaked brochure, so the range now starts at 2,289,600 yen for the entry-level 2.0i trim, 2,397,600 yen for the 2.0i EyeSight (replacing the Proud Edition), and 2,592,000 yen for the top-of-the-range 2.0i-L EyeSight. However the hybrid variant prices will remain the same, and they still ask a 280,800 yen premium over the regular petrol models.
