The range might comprise of two scooters.

Piaggio-owned Vespa will be unveiling its "new range" of scooters on September 1 (tomorrow). Vespa’s brand ambassador, Italian football star Alessandro Del Piero, will be present to unveil the new models.

The company has not divulged the details on the launch, but IAB learns that the Vespa 125 refresh will get 5-spoke silver finished wheels, wider tires and a wider seat. Also part of the refresh is a new semi-digital instrument cluster, new colours and perhaps new nomenclature for the variants. The mechanical aspect of the scooter is unlikely to see serious changes, with it being based upon a monocoque steel body construction, and powered by a 125 cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 10.06 PS and 10.6 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT. The scooter gets disc brake at the front, and drum at the rear.

The company refused to comment on the changes in the new range when IndianAutosBlog.com made queries.

As Vespa uses the word 'range,' chances are that a second model with a higher displacement could also be unveiled, and launched in the market during the festive season.
