Based on the new D2XX platform, the second gen Cruze goes on sale in the USA in early 2016.

The 2017 Cruze is based on the D2XX FWD platform that has made the model 113 kg lighter. It also benefits from a 27 percent stiffer body and a low 0.29 drag coefficient. The engine powering the sedan will be a new 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine generating 153 bhp paired to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox enabling the new Cruze to complete the 0-100 km/h mark in under 8 seconds. A new diesel engine is also confirmed as being in the pipeline, and will arrive in 2017.

The interior features a dual cockpit design with a three-spoke steering wheel, premium leather upholstery and a large 7-inch MyLink infotainment display as standard, with an even bigger 8-inch screen coming as option on the top-end trims, with Android Auto and CarPlay compatibility.

As per a recent report, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze' Indian launch is expected not before 2017 probably due to the low demand witnessed by the sedans in the D-segment.
