The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport/2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport/2016 Mitsubishi Challenger is the second model to feature Mitsubishi's "Dynamic Shield" front end, and doesn't look like a Mitsubishi Triton with an SUV body style. It gets generous helping of chrome in the front fascia, sleek headlamps and LED daytime running lights, and a new bumper design. At the back, it features a striking pair of vertically-oriented taillight clusters (similar to the GR-HEV concept) and a re-designed lift gate.

The interior of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport borrows cues from the model it's based on, the Mitsubishi Triton. However, it does features distinctive elements such as a new 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a flowing center console with sculpted silver embellishments on either side, silver door handles, and leather upholstery.

Talking about equipment, the new Pajero Sport comes with a touchscreen infotainment display, optional "Multi-Around" camera system, and electric parking brake (apparently the first time in a Mitsubishi). Safety features include  Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM), Blind Spot Warning system (also a first on a Mitsubishi model) and an Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) and seven SRS airbags.

Powering the 2016 Mitsubishi Sport is a 2.4L MIVEC turbo diesel engine which comes paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission (first for a Mitsubishi model). Although power figures have not been revealed yet, reports suggest that it will deliver 181 PS and 430 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a Super-Select 4WD-II four-wheel drive system with a new Off-road Mode and by Hill Descent Control (both firsts in a Mitsubishi).

Mitsubishi claims that the new Pajero Sport is 17-percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. It also achieves a CO2 emissions rating of under 200 g/km, which puts it into the lowest bracket of the new excise tax structure to be introduced in Thailand in January 2016.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport made its public debut at the 2015 BIG Motor Sale in Thailand hours back, and will go on sale this fall. According to reports, it will be available in Thailand in 3 trims, – GLS, GT and GT AWD – with prices ranging from 1.138 million to 1.45 million Baht (INR 20.81 lakhs to INR 26.51 lakhs).
