Will feature elevated ride height and tougher body cladding.

Following the reveal of the 2016 Audi A4 (B9) sedan and Avant versions, the company has begun testing the "Allroad" pseudo-crossover version of the latest generation model. Based on spyshots and the general idea of an Audi Allroad model, X-Tomi Design has rendered the Audi A4 Allroad, giving us a first look at the rugged offering.

The 2017 Audi A4 could feature tougher black plastic body cladding, a silver skid plate and a vertical slat Audi 6-point grille.

Like the outgoing Audi A4 Allroad, the latest model could feature tougher black plastic body cladding for the bumpers and side moldings, a silver skid plate and a vertical slat Audi 6-point grille. The A4 Allroad is certain to have an increased ride height, while spyshots reveal that it will get more pronounced fender flares and minor tweaks to the rear fascia.

The interior is expected to be largely identical to the 2016 A4 sedan and Avant. It will feature a simple, well-built interior with a flowing dashboard, a large 8.3 inch free-standing Audi MMI infotainment display navigated through the touchpad in the rotary controller, and an optional 12.3 inch Virtual Cockpit display that feeds vehicle information in high-resolution graphics, as well as maps in full screen.

The interior of the 2017 Audi A4 Allroad is expected to be largely identical to the A4 sedan (pictured), save for exclusive colors and trim.

The 2017 Audi A4 Allroad could source power from the revised 2.0 TFSI or 2.0 TDI engine. In the A4 sedan, the former produces 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while the latter delivers 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It is likely to be fitted with an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox, which will send torque to all four wheels via Audi's famed Quattro AWD system as standard.

For the Indian market, Audi will certainly bring the new A4 sedan in 2016. Reports suggest that Audi India is also keen on introducing more Avant (estate) bodystyles in the market to set up a new segment. If so, we could see Audi also introducing the 2017 A4 Allroad in the country, which could be a perfect vehicle to tackle Indian road conditions, given its elevated ride height and tougher body cladding.
