Ahead of its world premiere at the 2015 Bangkok Big Motor Sale on August 1, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has dropped yet another teaser of the 2016 Pajero Sport (also called the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport/2016 Mitsubishi Challenger in select markets), this time a video showing more details.

The teaser offers a closer look at the L-shaped LED daytime running lights, the sharply cut rear windows, the vertically oriented taillight cluster with LED lights, and the side profile of the Fortuner-rivaling SUV. The tagline of the SUV reads - Designed for Perfection.

To recap, the new Pajero Sport will be based on the Mitsubishi Triton's ladder-frame platform, much like how the new 2016 Fortuner is based on the Hilux Revo pickup. Mitsubishi introduced its new 2.4-liter MIVEC four-cylinder diesel engine on the Triton, and the same will power the 2016 Pajero Sport as well. This unit is capable of 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed transmission.

The SUV will continue to be offered with the Japanese car maker's famed Super Select 4WD system with a low-range gearbox and a differential lock for the rear axle.

An Indian market introduction of the new Pajero Sport will take place post February 2016. It will continue to be assembled at Hindustan Motor Finance Corp’s (HMFCL) Tiruvallur plant (in Tamil Nadu) through Thai-made CKD kits.
