Mitsubishi has released its third teaser of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport/2016 Mitsubishi Challenger), which is confirmed to debut on August 1, 2015 at the 2015 Bangkok Big Motor Sale. Sporting a fresher design, the new Pajero Sport is "Designed to Perfection" says its slogan.
Based on the new ladder-frame chassis which also underpins the Mitsubishi Triton, the 2016 Pajero Sport is set to be powered by a new 2.4-liter MIVEC four-cylinder diesel engine which develops 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque on the Triton. Paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, Mitsubishi will be targeting the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner, and the new Ford Endeavour (Ford Everest), two of the Pajero Sport's key rivals.
Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD system with a differential lock and a low-range gearbox will continue to be offered on the 2016 Pajero Sport. Additional equipment could come in the form of LED headlights and LED taillights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, an electric tailgate and a smart entry with push button start among others.
An Indian market introduction of the new Pajero Sport would take place after February 2016, with Mitsubishi continuing to assemble the SUV at HMFCL's (Hindustan Motor Finance Corp) Tiruvallur plant.
