The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport gets a new grille that houses the headlamps within its facade.

The SUV will be based on the fifth-generation Triton that made its debut late last year, being underpinned by the same ladder-frame chassis. As seen before, the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport gets a chrome grille, with the emblazoned logo of the Japanese manufacturer sitting on a black background, as a part of the Dynamic Shield design. To lend a sense of contrast, the SUV gets blacked-out B- and C-pillars along with chrome alloy wheels.

The power is expected to come from the same engine that powers the 2015 Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck.

Though the company hasn't officially declared the mechanicals of the upcoming SUV, it is likely to sport the same engine that does duty on the the 2015 Triton. The new 2.4-litre 4N15 turbo-diesel engine delivers 181 PS (178 hp) and 430 Nm of torque for the pickup truck. The new-generation Pajero Sport is likely also to get a 6-speed automatic gearbox, replacing its existing 4-speed box, alongside a 6-speed manual transmission.
