Debut at Bangkok’s Big Motor Sale.

Thai website, MZ Crazy Cars has uploaded this revealing image of the rear of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which will be unveiled on Saturday (August 1, 2015) at the 2015 Bangkok Big Motor Sale.

2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport rear revealed
The Pajero Sport could get an 8-speed automatic transmission, according to a report.

As can be seen, the design of the rear marks a departure from the current model and opts for vertically-oriented taillight enclosures with an arrow-like design kink, a rectangular windscreen and a chrome enclosure for the registration plate holder.

The front fascia gets a more modern styling inspired by Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and an X-shaped chrome grille. Spyshots are yet to provide a look at the SUV’s interior.

The 2016 Pajero Sport is expected to be powered by the 2.4-liter four-cylinder MIVEC diesel engine borrowed from the new Mitsubishi Triton pickup, which makes 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque, and is offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The 2.4L MIVEC diesel engine is expected to replace the 2.5L turbo-diesel unit.

However, a report states that this engine will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission on the Pajero Sport, with the drive going to all wheels via Mitsubishi’s Super Select AWD system.

Further, the report reveals that the 2016 Pajero Sport will come in three variants – GLS, GT and GT AWD – with prices ranging from 1.138 million to 1.45 million Baht (INR 20.74 lakhs to INR 26.43 lakhs).

Further details on the Pajero Sport are expected over the weekend.
