The 4.3 meter S-Cross has the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta in sights.

The lack of wheel covers and a rear wiper and washer indicates that this could be a base LDi or a mid-level VDi variant. According to reports, the S-Cross will initially launch in India with two diesel engine options. The 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine, which powers the diesel variants of all Maruti cars in India save for the Celerio, will produce about 90 bhp on the crossover.

Higher up, a 1.6-liter Fiat-soured MultiJet will develop 120 bhp and come with a 6-speed manual transmission. Reports say that Maruti will import this diesel engine, whereas the 1.3-liter unit is manufactured locally with a high-degree of localization.

For the Indian market, spyshots have shown that Maruti has given the S-Cross a new dual-slat chrome grille to appeal to the local market tastes.
