Jaguar will be introducing their first ever production-spec SUV days before its worldwide debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, dubbed as the Jaguar F-Pace. Currently, the Coventry-based Tata-owned company is testing pre-production mules of the F-Pace around the world, and one such unit has been spotted at the Port of Calais, France.

The design of the F-Pace was previewed through the Jaguar C-X17 concept, which was also showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. It follows Jaguar's updated design philosophy that influences the latest XE and XF, as seen in the sleek LED headlamps, large mesh grille and a sculpted hood. The side will feature strong character lines and a muscular shoulder to give it a sporty presence, while the rear gets an F-Type-esque taillamps, roof spoiler and a dual exhaust system.

The interior will borrow design cues from the Jaguar XE. Previous spyshots have indicated that the F-Pace will feature a piano-black center console housing the large display powered by Jaguar’s InControl Touch infotainment system with dual view, an F-Type inspired steering wheel and instrument binnacle.

Other expected equipment include a Bowers and Wilkins audio system, laser Head-Up display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue assist, semi-automatic park assist, Intelligent Speed Limiter, and Wi-Fi hotspot.

The F-Pace's engine lineup will consist of two 2.0-liter diesel Ingenium engines producing 163 hp and 180 hp respectively, and an "S" variant that features a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine from the F-Type. Also murmured is an even more powerful F-Pace SVR variant that could source power from the 5.0-liter V8 supercharged variant with an output range of 510-550 hp.

The F-Pace's engine lineup will pack a couple of 2.0-liter diesel Ingenium engines and 3.0-liter V6 engine at launch.

Transmission options include a six-speed manual for the base 2.0-liter diesel variants, while the rest are equipped with an 8-speed ZF automatic. The F-Pace will most likely feature AWD for all markets, making use of Jaguar’s latest Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD).

Given that the precursor to the F-Pace was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, there is a possibility of Jaguar announcing the production model in the SUV-loving market at the same venue in 2016.
