Will make its Indian debut in July.

Honda is currently working on preparations for the launch of the next generation Honda Jazz in India, due for a debut in July. The company's next big ticket product will be offered with a choice between a petrol and a diesel motor, and is expected to be more competitively priced than the previous generation Jazz.

Seen here is an Indian-spec Honda Jazz in the top-end VX trim featuring fog lamps, 16-inch alloy rims, a rear windshield wiper and washer, rear spoiler, and power-operated wing mirrors with integrated turn signals and folding feature.

The Jazz comes with an interior that would be well familiar to people who have experienced the new Honda City. In the top-end VX trim, the black and beige cabin comes equipped with an AVN (Audio Visual Navigation) 15.7 cm touchscreen system, a touch panel for the automatic climate control, and a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel and gearlever.

The engine lineup of the new Jazz includes a 1.2-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel, with the petrol receiving optional AT.

As stated above, the engine lineup of the new Jazz includes a 1.2-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel (for the first time on a Honda hatchback in India). Although Honda hasn't revealed power figures, expect the former's output to be similar to the Brio's 88 PS and 109 Nm of torque, while the latter could produce 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, as in the Amaze and Honda City, returning a mileage of over 25 km/l.

The petrol variant will offer either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox with paddle shifters whereas the diesel could get a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission.

Unlike the previous generation, Honda Cars India will price the new Jazz very competitively as localization levels have increased to a feasible 90 percent. The company has also confirmed that a launch will take place in July, and media reports are narrowing it down to July 8, 2015.
