Earlier reports have indicated that Ford India will launch the iconic nameplate around the festive season period of 2015 (October-November period). While new models such as the Figo Aspire and new Figo hatchback (also lined up for a launch this year) will add volumes, the Mustang will be a halo offering; a brand shaping tool to expand the marketing outreach.

The new Mustang, now in its sixth generation, made its premiere in December 2013. The Mustang which was imported is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of 420 bhp and 528 Nm of torque paired to 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

The Mustang, when launched in India, will be imported through the CBU route from Dearborn, Michigan, U.S.A. While it doesn't have a direct competitor in India as such, reports are rife that GM India, in due time, will launch the Camaro, the sixth generation of which was unveiled last month.
