Market launch confirmed for July 8.

Honda Cars India have released all the technical details of the forthcoming 2015 Jazz. While our reviews feature a detailed look at this hatchback, here are the essential facts of the new Jazz.

2015 Honda Jazz Technical Highlights dimensions

For the Indian market, the new Jazz measures 3,955 mm in length, 1,694 mm in width, 1,544 mm in height and 2,530 mm in wheelbase. These figures represent an increase of 55 mm in overall length and 30 mm in wheelbase compared to the previous Jazz which was sold in India. Other figures include a 165 mm ground clearance and 175/65 R15 alloys on the top-end variants, and 175/70 R14 on steel rims for other variants.

The longer wheelbase has liberated an additional 3 inches of front-to-rear seating room, a further 115 mm of rear legroom, and an overall increase in passenger volume by 139 liters. Engineers have also applied a new fuel tank concept, placed in the middle of the car to extend the rear seats.

2015 Honda Jazz Technical Highlights colors

The Jazz will come in a total of 7 exterior color options, and two interior themes. The top-end VX trim gets black seats with white contrast stitching, while other trims get beige seat fabrics, beige interior pillars and a beige roof.

Honda has only released the kerb weight figures of the petrol variants of the Jazz. The Jazz petrol MT will weigh between 1,007-1,044 kg while the CVT will be heftier at 1,062-1,066 kg. All variants, petrol and diesel, get a 40 liter fuel tank and a 354 liter boot which can be expanded to 881 liters by folding the rear seats.

The Jazz features a new brushless EPS unit, giving it a turning radius of 5.1 meters (petrol variants).

Coming to the engines, the petrol Jazz is powered by the Brio-derived 1.2-liter i-VTEC motor capable of 90 PS at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. The 5-speed manual variant delivers 18.7 km/l while the CVT returns 19 km/l. The diesel Jazz is powered by the 1.5-liter i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine developing 100 PS at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel is good for an ARAI-rated figure of 27.3 km/l.

2015 Honda Jazz Technical Highlights suspension

On the suspension front, the Jazz relies on a McPherson strut with coil springs at the front and a Torsion beam axle with coil springs at the rear. While the suspension layout is identical to the previous model, the components are newly designed, and hence aid in weight loss, and better dynamic performance, according to Honda.

Braking power comes from disc brakes up front and drum brakes at the rear. ABS, EBD and dual airbags are part of the standard equipment on the top-end variants.

Bookings for the new Jazz will open at Honda dealerships around the 20th of June, while the market launch is confirmed to take place on July 8, 2015.
