To debut new 'GD' series of diesel engines.

Ahead of its global premiere on May 21 in Thailand, Toyota has released a video teaser of the 2016 Toyota Hilux Revo.

At the Vienna Motor Symposium, Toyota announced the new 'GD' series of diesel engines which will make their debut on the new Hilux, before powering other IMV products like the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner and the 2016 Toyota Innova.

A 2.4- and 2.8-liter diesel engine are part of the GD engine family, while the petrol engine, a 2.7-liter unit, will be carried over from the previous generation Hilux. Apart from a variable geometric turbo, these engines are equipped with "Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC)", Toyota said.

Toyota's manufacturing facility in Thailand has started production of the new Hilux, and according to reports, the first batch of production, is on its way to dealerships in the country. The Hilux Revo will be offered in three bodystyles - Single Cab, Smart Cab and Double Cab.

A total of 31 variants spanning the three bodystyles, petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions and 2WD and 4WD will be seen initially. All variants will get dual airbags as standard.
