To feature the 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost engine.
The V40 Cross Country which is currently available only with a 2.0-liter diesel engine in India, will get a petrol variant tomorrow.
Under the hood is reported to be a 1.6-litre DOHC turbocharged engine sourced from Ford. The inline 4-cylinder engine features twin-independent variable camshaft timing, and comes with two state of applications internationally – 150 PS and 185 PS. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Though the power rating of the Indian-spec car is unconfirmed, it is likely that Volvo may go for the high-power 185 PS tuning, since the diesel engine is already making 152 PS, and petrol customers are pro-performance.
The car is likely to come with the same kit as the diesel with a Side Impact Protection System airbags, Knee and curtain airbags, Volvo’s city safety system, traction control, Panoramic sunroof, Sensus audio system, TFT instrument cluster, etc. The company is expected to price the V40 Cross Country petrol in the INR 30-35 lakh bracket.
Meanwhile Volvo is reportedly having a host of new launches this year in the domestic market this year with the S60 T6 (petrol variant of the S60 sedan), V40 hatchback, and the next-generation XC90 SUV.
