Most expensive variant of the Nano yet.

Team-BHP reader //M has posted pictures of the Tata Nano F-Tronic XTA variant that gives an appearance that it was being driven out of a showroom. The car's yet to be announced formally, but the production readiness of the car here insinuates that the introduction is close by.

The Tata Nano Twist Active XTA, going by the current variant hierarchy, would be the top-end variant.

Tata Motors showcased the F-Tronic and Twist Active as concept cars at the Auto Expo 2014. The F-Tronic is Tata's terminology for AMT, Twist for power steering, while the Active is the suffix to underline the functional tailgate. The AMT, a Magneti Marelli unit, is available on the Zest, apart from the Celerio and K10.

Also seen on this prototype (and observed on the Expo concepts) are the new bumper and rear spoiler. The front-end presumably gets the smoked headlamps and the smiley-type bumper with new foglamps and honeycomb grille.

A new steering wheel, gear lever and interior trim are the expected interior changes.

Test prototypes caught earlier were sporting updates to the interior such as a 'woody' panel on the center console and new trims. The concept was decked further with a new three-spoke steering wheel, gear lever (even on the manual) and a larger fuel tank with 24L capacity, which could also filter down into the series Nano.

Like in the last two years, the new upgrades could roll out under the 2015 model-year program.
