Comes in CNG and diesel variants, and passenger and load carrying applications.

The Mahindra Maxximo, launched shortly after its unveiling at the 2010 Auto Expo, has completed 5 years on Indian roads, the company said in a press release last week. Within this time, 2.4 lakh units of the Tata Ace rival were delivered.

To mark the fifth anniversary of the 850 kg payload mini truck, two unique customer initiatives, a 3 years/1 lakh km warranty (whichever is earlier) on the Maxximo Plus engine and ‘Promise of Same Day Service’ across all Mahindra workshops, have been announced.

Updates and variants were galore during this time. In April 2011, Mahindra followed the Maxximo with the Maxximo Minivan, a passenger application for last-mile service. In March 2013, the Maxximo Plus was released as an upgrade with higher fuel efficiency and overall improvements, and replaced the Maxximo. In January last year, the Maxximo Minivan was launched for school duties, with safety features like GPS tracking and alerts, and CCTV camera.

Maxximo test mules with a masked front end have been spied on test in recent months, implying that Mahindra could institute a facelift with further improvements in the short term. Moreover, the Maxximo will be joined by a pair of two near-1 tonne payload trucks late this year or in 2016, that are in the development phase under the codename ‘P601’.
