The Elite i20 was launched in India in August 2014. India was the first market for the car.

The increased production should help lower waiting periods of the car, which stand at two-and-a-half months. As of March 16, the Elite i20 has received 468,184 enquiries and 103,960 bookings. In the seven months that it has been on sale, HMIL has sold 100,000 units.

The Elite i20 is priced between INR 5.23 lakhs to INR 6.86 lakhs for the petrol variants and between INR 6.36 lakhs and INR 7.99 lakhs for the diesel variant, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The recently launched i20 Active costs INR 6.38 lakhs to INR 7.09 lakhs for the petrol and INR 7.63 lakhs to INR 8.89 lakhs for the diesel.
