Update – 1
A left hand drive version of the new Ford Figo was snapped testing by RushLane. Reports have stated in the past that the Sanand plant will cater to export markets, apart from domestic demand, and the prototype here could be testing its running gear, which could be specifically tuned for a particular market requirement.

Sanand facility expected to be inaugurated by end of this month.
Ford India is testing out the new Ford Figo, the compact sedan based on the new Figo reportedly called the ‘Figo Aspire‘, and the full-sized sedan based on the Figo. The latter is only available in Brazil at the moment, where it is called Ka+.
The Ka+ is unlikely to launch in India, as Ford India sells the Fiesta in that segment. Developed keeping in mind the Indian market is the sub-4 meter version of the sedan, which is likely to launch before the hatchback.
Both, the Figo Aspire sedan and the new Figo hatch, will be made at Ford India’s new facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Reports state that this facility will be inaugurated later this month.
Power for the Figo Aspire, according to sources, will come from a 1.2-liter TiVCT petrol engine, developing about 80 PS, and a recalibrated version of the 1.5-liter diesel engine seen in the Fiesta and EcoSport.
While a 5-speed manual transmission will come standard on the Figo Aspire and new Figo, Ford could also explore the possibility of offering its dual-clutch Powershift gearbox with a more powerful 1.5-liter petrol motor.
Competitors: Tata Zest, Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent
