According to a report on Autocar India, BMW India will launch a more powerful variant on the X3 with the 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. While this variant was offered on the pre-facelift, the facelifted X3 which went on sale in India in August 2014 came solely with the 2.0-liter diesel unit.

The X3 30d's M Sport kit adds plenty of visual flair, a new steering and paddle shifters.

To give it added presence, the X3 30d variant as it will be called, will get the M Sport bodykit, comprising of aggressively designed bumpers, side skirts, new alloy wheels and an M Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.

The big news is that this engine will be locally assembled in India. Prior to the assembly of the 3L diesel engine, the 2L diesel engine will be assembled starting this month, says the publication. BMW India had also made an announcement in February this year that it had tied up with 7 parts suppliers for increased localization of products.
