Indian Autos Blog can report that the 2015 Ford Ranger (facelift) will have its global reveal at the Bangkok International Motor Show, which starts on March 24, 2015 for the press. Ford already revealed an image of the facelifted Ranger last year, and several test mules without camouflage have shown the pickup in various angles, in the run up to the launch.

Designers have given the Ranger facelift a front end similar to that of the new Ford Everest (Ford Endeavour). Spyshots of the interior have shown that the pickup also benefits from the new dashboard and steering wheel, borrowed from the new gen SUV.

The Ranger in Thailand is presently available with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine. While the diesel engines are expected to be carried over, the 2.5-liter petrol could be replaced with the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine which is announced for the new Everest/Endeavour.

Another mechanical element the new Ranger could adopt from the Everest would be the Terrain Management System which allows the driver to switch between Sand, Gravel, Mud & Ruts, etc. At the moment, a 4x4 option is available on the 2.2- and 3.2-liter diesel engines, paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The updated Ranger will be made at the AutoAlliance plant in Rayong, Thailand. The same plant will also make the new Endeavour/Everest, which will launch in India by the end of this year via the CKD route.
