2015 Ford Endeavour caught testing in India for first time - Spied

Launch likely to be around Diwali.

The third-generation Ford Endeavour was spotted testing for the first time in India. Motor Vikatan reader Mr. Manikandan Subbarayalu snapped the three test mules he spotted near Tindivanam in Viluppuram district of Tamil Nadu. The new premium SUV is likely to be launched in the festive season.

The three test mules spotted are reported as the 2.2L MT, 2.2L AT and 3.2 AT 4WD.

Ford India has imported test vehicles to Chennai from Thailand, where the car was launched this week as the Ford Everest with prices starting from 1,269,000 Baht (INR 24.27 lakhs). The spy pictures show three cars that are reportedly all different in engine and transmission specifications.

The blue car is said to be powered by a 2.2-liter TDCI diesel engine with a manual transmission and the car in silver is reported as an automatic variant with a 6-speed shifter mated to the same engine. The 2.2-liter engine churns out 158.24 hp and 385 Nm of torque in the Thai model. Both cars are 2WD variants.

The Endeavour comes with full-time 4WD and lockable rear differential. Also available is a new Terrain Management System with four driving modes.

The third car in black is reported to be powered by a larger 3.2-liter Duratorq 5-cylinder diesel unit that can generate 197.13 hp and 470 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This test car is 4WD enabled, with Ford’s terrain management system that alters throttle response, gear, differential, and traction control on the request of the driver.

The Endeavour is based on a modified Ranger platform and offers SYNC 2 infotainment, dual-zone HVAC and cruise control.

The 2015 Endeavour features new exterior and interiors, and may host features akin to the Ford Everest launched in Thailand. It be imported as CKD kits and assembled at the company’s Chennai plant.
