Aravind Jayachandran, It goes without saying that I'm a huge petrolhead and can apparently convert all my driving emotions into words you can read.
The 675LT is a track-focused version of the McLaren 650S.
At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, McLaren will be unveiling their latest product under the newly setup "Super Series" - the track-focused McLaren 675LT. So far, the Woking based company have been teasing the car, raising the anticipation towards its launch. Finally, they revealed images and all details of the car today.
On the exterior, the McLaren 675LT is nearly identical to the less-powerful 650S, save for an extended carbon fiber front splitter with end plates, wider door blades with an extra vent placed above for additional cooling, wide side intakes, a new engine cover, and an aggressive rear-end with dual rounded titanium exhaust pipes.
Inside, the most noticeable changes are the larger set of steering paddles and new Alcantara-upholstered carbon fiber seats, similar to the ones in the P1 hypercar.
The 675LT will only come in coupe configuration and, with a dry weight of 1230 kg, its nearly 100 kg lighter than the 650S, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber. With the new front splitter, and a longer rear airbrake, McLaren have also managed to increase the downforce for better cornering at high speeds.
Power is sourced from the same 3.8-liter twin turbo V8, but is now tuned to produce 666 hp and 700 Nm of torque. With the lightweight body and powerful engine, the 675LT has an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 542 hp per tonne. It is paired to 7-speed dual clutch SSG transmission, which helps the 675LT do the 0-100kp/h sprint in a blistering 2.9 seconds, and 0-200 kp/h in 7.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 330km/h.
The McLaren 675LT will make its global debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Its prices will be revealed closer to its market launch.
