Expected to be the precursor to 2016 Kia Optima.

The teaser image Kia shared last week was of the Sportspace concept which has been unveiled ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut next month. Presented in an estate body style, the concept is the expected precursor to the 2016 Kia Optima.

The Kia Sportspace concept features a sleeker front end and a lowered stance.

At the front, the concept shows a sleeker profile in comparison to the current Kia Optima. The quad fog lamps have made way for a slimmer design element, but it remains to be seen how much of it realises when the vehicle is put into production.

With the inclusion of the estate body style, Kia has hinted at the possibility of the 2016 Optima being offered in an estate form, too.

Talking of production, the new body style certainly indicates that Kia is looking at widening its Optima range, which currently is only a sedan. Designed at the company's European design centre in Frankfurt, the vehicle is made for long distance driving, says the Korean car maker.

The interior pictures suggest a clear departure from Kia's current interior styling. The concept car interior features a floating dashboard, and boasts two screens - one on the centre console and the other replacing the conventional instrument panel.

The door pads appear to sport a carbon fibre trim while the rest is shiny aluminium. Other notable features seen include sports seats, a rotary controller for the infotainment system, automatic gearbox with paddles behind the multifunction wheel, an aircraft like gear-stick and toggle switches around it.
