Tata Bolt launches today, here's what we know - IAB Report

Tata Motors will launch its Bolt premium hatchback today in Mumbai. The car, based on the Vista's platform, follows the well-received Zest compact sedan that was launched in August 2014.

The Bolt is the second turnaround product for Tata Motors.

The hatchback will be available with two engine options, a petrol and a diesel. The petrol unit is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged motor producing 90 PS (88.7 bhp) at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. The diesel is the 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet outputting 75 PS (73.9 bhp) at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm between 1,750-3,000 rpm. Both engines get a 5-speed manual transmission.

The petrol Bolt weighs between 1,095 – 1,125 kg, and comes with the Multi-Drive feature. The driver can choose between three modes - Sport, City and Eco - to alter the throttle map of the car. According to the company, the diesel Bolt weighs between 1,130 – 1,160 kg.

Coming to dimensions, the hatchback measures 3,825 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, 1,562 mm in height and 2,470 mm in wheelbase. It has a ground clearance of 165 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 44 litres. The boot can take up to 210 liters of luggage with all seats in place.

Tata has opted for a full black dashboard for the Bolt.

The Bolt will be loaded with features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, alloy wheels, smoked projector headlights, multifunction steering wheel, a touchscreen Harman infotainment system with video output, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and split folding rear seats.
