Expected to get a new 1.5-liter diesel engine.

Maruti's first sub-4 meter SUV is set to arrive early next year, with reports suggesting a reveal at the Auto Expo. The car, codenamed 'YBA', has already started testing in India, revealing just enough for digital artists to come up with renderings.

The YBA will have design cues flowing from the iv-4 concept showcased in 2013.

Seen here is a rendering of the YBA with an external spare wheel, though it should be mentioned that the prototypes snapped testing did not sport this feature. This rendering also shows the design of the C-Pillar which seems integrated with the rear quarter glass window, a design Suzuki showcased on the iv-4 concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show of 2013.

The YBA, according to reports, will be based on the Swift's platform. Power is expected to come from a 1.5-liter diesel engine, apart from a capable petrol engine which could be the 1.2-liter K-Series unit, or the new 1.0-liter turbocharged unit which is expected to debut on the YRA premium hatchback.
