The sixth manufacturing plant by Bosch in India is built with an investment of INR 500 million. Spread over 6,500 square meter, the facility will be used for producing powertrain sensors, fuel delivery modules, and air management components.

Before this, Bosch's Naganathapura plant was used by its Gasoline Systems division. But now, the new plant is going to be an important step in Bosch's strategy to enter the two-wheeler market with its electronic fuel injection systems, mentioned Sandeep N., Regional President for Gasoline Systems, Bosch Limited.

With increased localisation, the company will be able make its products more cost-competitive. Earlier last year, Bosch had announced its foray in the 2-wheeler powertrain segment with fuel injectors, that according to the company, cost equal to a carburetor.

The company, which believes that India is a strong growth market, is bullish on replacing carburetors by its affordable fuel injection system, especially in the Asia Pacific markets, which largely consists of sub-250 cc 2-wheelers.
