2015 Ford Edge seven-seater goes on sale from May - China

Customers can choose between seven different variants.

Changan Ford has announced that the new Ford Edge SUV will go on sale in China from May, and on offer is the 7-seater version exclusive to the Chinese market, which was revealed at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show.

Other than the standard 5-seater, on offer is a longer, 7-seater version exclusive to the Chinese market.

The basic model will be a 5-seater, fitted with standard exterior features including LED tail-lights, power adjustable wing mirrors with heater function, and halogen headlamps.

Inside, standard equipments comprise of a leather multifunction steering wheel, a 4.2-inch infotainment display powered by SYNC's first generation software, push-button start, rear parking sensors, and fabric upholstery. Safety features include ABS with EBD, ESC (electronic stability control), TCS (traction control system), EBA (emergency brake assist), electronic differential lock, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), front seatbelt pre-tensioners, and front row airbags + side curtain airbags.

The basic variant features 5 seats, while subsequent variants feature seven seats in a theater style arrangement.

The entry level 7-seater variant adds independent rear air-conditioning and leather upholstery with power adjustable front seats with heating function to the mix.

Subsequent variants further add LED headlamps and DRLs, panoramic sunroof, roof rails, ambient interior lighting, a 10.1 inch infotainment screen powered by SYNC's second generation software and electric tailgate, while the top-of-the-line variant crams in a 360 degree view monitor, Sony sound system with 12 speakers, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control and a heated windshield.

Out of the 7 variants, the first five variants will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine rated at 240 hp and 345 Nm, from which three variants feature a normal front-wheel-drive system, while the other two are equipped with an all-wheel-drive system.

The top two variants are powered by a 2.7 litre V6 EcoBoost engine that produces 322 hp and 508 Nm, and are fitted standard with an all-wheel-drive system.

Both engines will come paired to a a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Customers can choose between two engines: a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and an upgraded 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

Prices start from CNY 258,800 (INR 25.7 lakhs) for the basic 5-seater variant, while the subsequent 7-seater variants will be priced between CNY 285,800-436,800 (INR 28.39-43.2 lakhs). The Edge will be manufactured in China through Ford's joint venture with Changan, and sold through Changan Ford dealerships.
