South Africa - Toyota Fortuner Epic launched

Gets cosmetic upgrades.

Toyota South Africa has announced a special edition for its rugged and brute SUV, the Fortuner, which further increases the strong appeal of the car.

Called the Toyota Fortuner Epic, the updates included in the special edition model are only visual. The Japanese brand has confirmed that it will not be limited to a few numbers. Instead 50% of all the 3.0-liter D-4D diesel variants and the 4.0-liter V6 petrol variants will be fitted with accessories exclusive to the “Epic” edition. Accessories include a chrome nudge bar, a matte black tow-bar, rear sill protector, and 17-inch wheels finished in dark grey.

Inside, the cabin is upholstered in leather. Tech equipment include a touchscreen audio with Bluetooth, iPod compatibility, and a reverse camera.

Toyota has already released an update for the standard Fortuner that includes changes such as redesigned headlights and taillights with smoked surrounds, and front foglamps with chrome surrounds.

The pricing for the Epic edition start at R461,800 (INR 25.4 Lakh) for the basic 3.0 D-4D 4X2 variant, and goes all the way up to R544,500 (INR 30 lakhs) for the 4.0-liter V6 model.

The next gen of the Fortuner is testing intensely, ahead of its world premiere next year. India would get the new SUV in 2016 but before that additional variants of the current gen model is expected.
