IAB Report - Hyundai ix25 launches in China in 24 hours; Tech details revealed

Comes with two engine options for China. 

The Hyundai ix25 will go on sale in China tomorrow (October 10). Unveiled first as a pre-production concept at the Beijing Motor Show, the production version soon broke cover with mild styling changes.

The ix25 is available with 2WD and 4WD options.

The ix25 measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,622 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. The mini SUV gets a 60 liter fuel tank and a ground clearance of 183 mm (180 mm for the top-end variant). Top-end variants are shod with 215/60 section tyres wrapped around 17-inch wheels.

For the Chinese market, Hyundai will offer the ix25 with 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol engines, both paired to 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. The 1.6-liter motor makes 122.8 bhp at 6,300 rpm and 150.7 Nm of torque at 4,850 rpm, and comes only with a 2WD arrangement.

The more powerful 2.0-liter generates 158 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, and comes with 2WD and 4WD. The 2-liter 2WD variant has the highest top-speed across the range at 187 km/h.

The compact crossover is scheduled to launch in India next year to rival the Renault Duster.

Feature wise, the ix25 (top-end) will get ABS, EBD, ESP, TCS, airbags, powered and heated seats, hill assist system, automatic AC, rear AC vents, cruise control and a multifunction steering wheel.

The ix25 will launch in India next year, and Indian road tests are currently underway.
