Old vs New – 2015 Honda CR-V (facelift) vs pre-facelift model

Gets cosmetic and mechanical updates. 

Honda took the wraps off the 2015 CR-V (facelift) at the 2014 Paris Motor Show last week. For the European market, the refreshed CR-V will commence sales in the spring of 2015, and in the U.S.A., sales start from October 1.

The front fascia sees the most of changes with redesigned headlight clusters featuring new LED daytime running lights. The triple-slat chrome grille of the older model is replaced with a “Solid Wing Face”, to bring the CR-V inline with newer models like the Jazz and HR-V (Vezel). The front bumper is completely new and gets a larger skid plate with new foglight enclosures.

There are no changes to speak of in the side profile save for new alloy wheel patterns.

The rear end of the SUV receives mild changes. While the design of the taillights remain the same, they are now equipped with LED elements. And for the bootlid, designers have added a chrome strip and altered the registration plate enclosure. The rear bumper, much like the front, gets a large skid guard.

Inside, the new CR-V’s cabin design remains the same. Updates come in the form of features like a 10-way powered and heated driver’s seat, power tailgate and a new 7-inch audio system.

Mechanically, the CR-V sees updates for the European and American markets. In Europe, the top-end 4WD CR-V’s 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine will make 160 PS (157.7 bhp) and 350 Nm of torque, and can optionally be fitted with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

For the U.S.A., the 2.4-liter i-VTEC petrol motor now uses direct-injection technology to produce 245 Nm (up from 220 Nm) of torque, while the power output of 185 hp remains the same. The transmission is now a CVT unit. For the American model, Honda say improvements have been carried out to the suspension setup as well.

Expected Price: INR 20–25 lakhs, ex-Showroom (in India)

Launch date: 2015 in India

    why can’t honda put 1.6 idtec with 120 ps in city.. they can use 160 ps version in higher models like civic.. India is always treated differently by auto-makers.. definitely disappointing..
