Could feature 4 captain seats.

Volvo is prepping a more luxurious variant of its recently-announced XC90 that will be exclusive to the Chinese only, Autocar UK is reporting.

China is not only the parent market for Volvo, but it's also one of the few profitable markets for the Swedish brand in the world. Since there are customers willing to pay top dollar for luxury and exclusivity, Volvo had decided to join the bandwagon with their special edition XC90.

The super-luxury version of the XC90 is thought-up for addressing a niche Chinese market requirement.

Unlike the standard 7-seater configuration, the premium variant will adopt a 4-seat configuration where the rear individual seats will feature electric operation, massage function and electric squabs. The seats will be pushed further back for the best-in-class legroom, an aspect that Chinese customers are very discerning about.

Since it will be sold as an ultra luxury SUV, expect it be powered by the top-end powertrain that combines a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, overall producing around 400 bhp.

There's no info on when it will be announced or whether it will be sold in other markets also, but it's expected to be on display by the end of this year.
